A beautiful story in the writing…
Luminus, leading challenger in the Belgian energy market, is a major electricity producer and supplier of energy and energy services. Luminus is number 1 in onshore wind and hydroelectric power in Belgium. The company also plays a key role in the country’s security of supply by operating several gas-fired power plants that balance the fluctuating nature of wind and solar power. As an energy supplier, the company sells electricity, gas and premium energy services to nearly 2 million residential and business customers. Luminus invests to face the energy challenges of tomorrow: the company is committed to delivering innovative energy efficiency solutions to its customers and is pursuing its developments in renewable energy.
I am an engineer with a great passion for energy. This passion brought me to work for different energy companies in Montréal, Brussels and Berlin. Today, I am back in Brussels, working as a market analyst and project manager at EDF Luminus. I am coming from a true cycling family and I am a real outdoor fanatic. I have always spent my family holidays on the bike with our cycling trip from Brussels to Santiago de Compostela as the most memorable one. Since a couple of years I undertake cycling holidays across the world together with friends.Nothing better than the freedom you get from travelling fully packed by bike! My last trip went from Uganda to Rwanda over 1000km of mountain bike roads. Ever since I got to know the story of the Suntrip in 2014 through the experience of Grégory Lewyllie, I am determined to participate in the Suntrip. Therefore it was with great joy that I saw the announcement of the Suntrip 2018. My greatest cycling dream is finally getting shape.
I am an avid long distance runner and ran several semi-marathons, marathons and long distance trails. Long distance hiking trips and a first experience in Alpinism are also on my CV. With this experience behind me I am confident about understanding the benefits of long term physical and mental preparation, as well as being able to endure the physical punishment during the actual race. As you may have noticed, a striking gap in my sporting history is long distance bicycle trekking. While my main mode of transport is my bike (I use it almost daily for commuting to work in Brussels), I have never embarked on a bike trip that is nearly as long as The Sun Trip. That said, I was brought up with cyclism and many members of my family are passionate cyclists. Among which my father, who was a deserving semi-professional cyclist for some years. He is quite proud that I will be taking part in The Sun Trip. Moreover, this challenge is not in the least an opportunity to improve my skills in the field of bike mechanics, which will be a crucial part of the preparation.
