2027: The Sun Trip Adventures

13.09.2026 - The Sun Trip
The Sun Trip The Sun Trip

While waiting for the 6th edition of The Sun Trip en 2028, planned for the second time between Lyon and Guangzhou, with the first 10 selected participants to be announced soon, 2027 will once again be shaped by three great adventures: Morocco – France – China, with new features and a limited number of places available for each project!

Sun Trip Morocco 2027

To kick off the year, the 3rd edition of the Sun Trip 100% Morocco will take place from April 18 to May 2, 2027 (dates may still change slightly), starting from Tangier!

The route, covering approximately 2,000 km, will be unveiled in November 2026. Two options are currently being considered: a Tangier–Marrakech–Laayoune route, or a loop from Tangier, passing through Marrakech and heading down to the desert areas south of the Atlas Mountains.

As always, this Moroccan adventure will be quite challenging, with distances of up to 200 km per day and weather conditions that can shift from 40°C heat to snow within just 24 hours.

Some previous bike touring experience is therefore highly recommended to take part in this adventure with confidence and fully enjoy the experience.

For the 2027 edition, we will limit registrations to 10 “classic” SunTrippers, while launching the new Supercycle programme, aimed at bringing 10 young adventurers into the challenge aboard this innovative vehicle — with the ambition of taking on the famous 4L Trophy and its old polluting cars!

Young people have the ability to mobilise, innovate and come up with new solutions, and we want to give them another opportunity to show what they can do.

All the information will soon be available on the dedicated page: coming soon.

Sun Trip Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes 2027

Following the tremendous success of the 2026 edition, we simply had to bring the Sun Trip Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes back in 2027. More than any other Sun Trip project, this adventure keeps the original spirit of the Sun Trip alive. And that is something truly precious.

The route and exact dates will be announced by December 2026. The plan is to organise the adventure during the second half of June 2027, starting from Lyon, with a route heading south and venturing beyond the borders of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, while also paying a visit to some of the host sites of the 2030 French Alps Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games!

To preserve the unique atmosphere and spirit of this event, participation will be limited to 30 SunTrippers. Pre-registration will open in early October 2026, with more details about the registration fees and what they include.

Sun Trip Odyssey !

And finally, here comes the big new adventure and the great leap into the unknown for 2027: the Sun Trip Odyssey.

This adventure will set off from Guangzhou, China, in August 2027, with the ambition of following the legendary Silk Roads, passing through some of their great cities along the way — including Xi’an, Samarkand and Istanbul. The journey will unfold over two years, with a winter break halfway through the adventure.

It is still possible to join the adventure, either by taking the initiative to create your own team, or by joining the team led by Frédéric Verrons, the project leader.

The objective is to build a small, committed core group of highly motivated and experienced participants, joined along the way by guest participants who will take part in only one section of the route.

Long live solar cycling, and long live the Sun Trip spirit!
