Adventurers on solar bikes choosing their course through Eurasia. Inspired by unassisted yacht races around the world, the Sun Trip is writing a new page in the world of overland adventures.

The VéLorean is a two-seat solar-electric pedal-powered quadricycle inspired by the DeLorean from Back to the Future. It was designed and is handcrafted in France (3D design, chassis and bodywork by LGZ.bike; electric drive system and solar integration by Grintech.eu).
This prototype is the result of carefully balancing several key objectives:
excellent stability and safety (a four-wheeled vehicle with a low center of gravity),
limited weight,
a large flat solar surface while minimizing the impact on aerodynamics and aesthetics,
an efficient motor system with enough torque for mountain terrain,
and a unique design that, we hope, will bring back fond cinematic memories for everyone.
It was Olivier’s youngest son who came up with the name “VéLorean” — a blend of vélo (the French word for bicycle) and DeLorean 🙂
Mother and son will pedal side by side, powered solely by their own muscle power and the solar energy generated by Mr. Fusion (our Sun).
