After our stops in 2017 and 2019, with the two Sun Trip Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes editions, then in 2022 with the Tour de France, the Sun Trip returns to Auvergne for the only French edition in 2025. The program includes a pretty loop of almost 500km, to be completed in 5 stages, starting from Le Puy-en-Velay, crossing the Monts d’Auvergne and then the Monts du Forez. The positive altitude difference will be 7,000 meters!
Stage 1 : Le Puy-en-Velay / Clavières
At 10am on Monday June 16, the 17 participants in the Sun Trip Auvergne 2025 adventure set off from Le Puy, in the presence of the municipal team. It was a cloudy start, but with a general smile.
After passing through the Allier gorges, the sun made its appearance on the Cantal road, with the first stage finishing in Clavières.
Emmanuel Mury : “But what a thrill! It’s a real treat for the eyes and the legs. A group for sharing, exchanging and helping each other, with a healthy dose of fun! The sun trip is a great way to tame your mount, and get to know your limits a little better. And thank you to the organizers for providing the sun!”
Gaëtane Mathey : “Discover the Auvergne and its magnificent landscapes, in a warm atmosphere and under a radiant sun, what else!”
Alexandre Zavisic : “I love the SunTrip and especially the excellent atmosphere among the participants. First stage surprisingly tiring, I wasn’t expecting to have to pedal so hard with my solar.cargobike to overcome the many metres of difference in altitude, but it’s really great to think that you’re riding 100% in the sun and muscle.”.

Stage 2 : Clavières / Lac des Cascades
A 100% Cantal stage, with the highlight being the ascent of the Pas de Peyrol, the highest pass in Auvergne, and for some the Puy Mary on foot. The troops then headed for Lac des Cascades, for a wild bivouac. A remake of a stage organized during the Sun Trip Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes 2019.
stage 3 : Lac des Cascades – Lac d’Aydat
With the Puy de Dôme in sight, the participants in the Sun Trip Auvergne completed their ascent to the north of the Massif Central on June 18. After 120km in the heat, the longest stage of the trip, they spent the night at Lac d’Ayda.
